A first for me at ‘Wounded Knee’… spirit isn’t always soft
Hello Everyone
I had an experience just recently that I want to share. Whilst in ceremony at Wounded Knee I was again invited to be ‘pierced’. This not something to be taken lightly, its not your average piercing… No sterile little room, or pre-wrapped needle containing some magic fluid to numb the pain, awaited me on this day. No pretty little decoration, no dangly gem would be left with me to remind me of my brave undertaking. Infact once my piercing was done there would be, ever so slightly, less of me…
With my skin exposed and my heart open, with my thoughts a hazey mist and my authentic self ready to walk ahead, I awaited the two stakes of wood that longed to serve their purpose… to be pushed through the flesh of my awaiting arms. And as the points of each stake pierced my skin and dug into my flesh I prepared myself for the pain… (during the many occasions before this was a time when I had to be strong of mind and yield to the feelings). But this time there was nothing… no pain, no thoughts of why, just a feeling of freedom. And as the stakes withdrew from me like a big tide receeding from a small bay, I felt waves of joy flow through me. My parting gift to the ‘Creator’ to Father Sky and Mother Earth were the two pieces of my flesh that clung onto the stakes as they were removed from me.
And that was, my beautiful ones, a real first… nothing is a given, to anyone other than the breathe of life itself, many things which we take for granted must be earned to be experienced in their truest form. For me, I discovered it would take 8 years of ceremony at Wounded Knee berfore I was ready, before I was entitled to experience a piercing with pain, fear or doubt - a piercing in its truest form, lancing the things that held me back.

Taking Flight!
Hello all you gorgeous folk!
Just before I got to Dakota, I was struck by my sudden profound need to take part in ceremony again. It may sound like something from ‘Pagan’ days gone by for many, but for me its all about connecting with the ones I love and who love me. The ones who love me enough to set the boundaries for my being and open the gates when my spirit is ready to run. And that is how I felt in the days before leaving; I wanted to run free, to take off and fly above the ancestral home and dance on the bones of my ancestors once more. That might sound a little odd, but for me to dance on the very lands inwhich their bodies are put to rest, in which their knowing takes seed to come up through the earth and fill me up again with the things I am ready to receive…that is a truly beautiful and overwhelming feeling. I will be in touch again very soon from ‘across the pond’ to share with you more ideas and dreams and words of wisdom from those who so willingingly still pass it on. From all the living and all those in spirit here in Dakota I send you love, may you dance, fly and run with sheer abandunment in your hearts and smiles on your faces.
Blessings

Our Calls answered in glorious Glastonbury!
Hello You Amazing People!
I have been meaning to catch up with my ‘blogs’ for ages, but I am lucky enough to be in the ‘moment’ more these days than writing about it. However I could not let ‘The Calling’ go ‘un-blogged’. Firstly, thank you to all who who facilitated this event, to my wonderful family for their love , support and dedication, but mostly to the incredibly brave, open and honest individuals who attended.
It was a great time of discovery, trust and release for so many and at such a profound level, that at one point I thought the helicopter hovering over us was coming to check out the ‘disturbance’ in the woods, I am told he was monotoring traffic on the M5, but I’m not so sure… Got me thinking that many people are told tales; of the great energy releases, kundalini racing through the body, white-outs, great visioning, re-birthing being announced with shouts and wails of epic proportions, yet few get to experience this first hand and many think of these things as myths and legends from bygone, substance fuelled days… But these experiences are real, and happening more and more. The tragedy is that most people do not understand, no do they have the ’safe space’ in which to journey through this experience and so are left feeling fearful and disconnected from reality, turning outwardly to addictions, be it drugs, alchohol, self abuse or inwardly to a darker, lonlier place. Our bodies, at all levels, are constantly changing, evolving, re-birthing and it is no surprise this happens on a spiritual/metaphysical level, for which, till now there has been little guidance. The joy, gratitude and sheer sense of wholeness that comes from travelling through these spiritual experiences, that were once a common necessity amoungst peoples, was so clearly for all to see at this year’s ‘Calling’, that I know we will be privileged again soon to help more people partake in these rites. Thank you again to all who shared in this and may you continued growth bear bountiful fruits.

Word of mouth…
A heartfelt ‘Hello’ to everyone
Having just returned from a wonderful experience at the Tree of Life Festival where I was overcome by the number of ’spiritual first-timers’ who shared their stories and poured their hearts out, I want to say ‘thank you’ for sharing that with me. It really is a time for great healing, for our Shaman Within to help us through our woundings and traumas. No matter what your beliefs, your outlook on life, your social standing, the one thing that can influemce whether your experience of life is full of abundance or devoid of love is YOU, your mind, your body and your spirit, together those three elements are what influence your soul’s experience more than any other outside influence. And this weekend showed me that more and more people are now ready to take up their own mantles. We really are blessed.
‘Barbara, I would like to thank you and Tim for the wonderfull experience of the Friday evening at the tree of life festival at Silsoe. This coupled with your talk on saturday morning has given me reason to rethink my whole life. Once again thank you. Love & light’ Dave Polley
‘Barbara Meiklejohn-Free was truly inspirational at the Tree of Life Festival weekend. Together with Tim Wheater & Katie Rose she created a magical festival opening ‘Sounds Divine’ evening performance which touched the hearts of everybody. Many people told us how transformational her talks and workshops had been for them. Her wisdom and insight was remarkable. She also lead a beautiful festival closing ceremony with so much love . Her presence and energy during the Festival was bright, deeply healing and very up-lifting.’ Joginder Bola & Marketa Rozsypalova, Tree of Life Festivals
Singing, dancing & merriment at MBS London…
Oh My Goodness,
What an amazing time was had at the show. I have never enjoyed myself at MBS as much as the last few days, and I hope all of you who came felt the same. Big thanks to Tim Wheater for the joint stage performances and to my hard working family for all their support on the stand with our wonderful emporium and keeping me fed and watered. I have been attending MBS London for many, many years and this year was phenomenal in terms of the terrific people I met during the festival, at my workshop and whilst on stage.
What a wonderful feeling to know so many of you attending really are connecting with your roots, your inner beauty and your inner strengths. What struck me this year was the number of people already in their knowing who are seeking to take it further, to really explore what they understand, rather than just seeing things for the first time. Those of you who wanted to evolve through music and rhythm, coming to us for flutes and drums, those who were now ready to celebrate their inner goddess now ready to share that with the world by donning some amazing dresses, tops and skirts and thoses of you ready to explore your intuition, not just by listening to what was being said at the workshop and in our conversations but by asking really meaningful questions that made me think and consider things more deeply… I thank you all from my heart. You all made this event something quite special for me.
I would love to share more with you soon, but in the meantime if you were at the show and would like to share your thoughts or experiences with me and others please email me and I will post a blog or two from the selection so that others may be encouraged to come alive like so many did just recently.
Love and blessings always

Consultations update…
Quick ‘Hello’ to all who were expecting to see me at the College of Psychic Studies next month…
If you have been left disappointed by the unfortunate booking mix up at the College of Pyschic Studies, then please do not worry. I thought it best to replace the consultations I was booked to do with them with sessions from Buxton, London and Jersey. If you were due to see my at the College in early June then please call Jacqui on01773 782011 to re-book. Again my deepest apologies for anyone who has been troubled by this turn of events, with a bit of juggling I will be able to see you at another venue. See the Diary Dates for more details…
Bless you and much love

Rejoicing in the rhythm…
Hello One & All,
Just time to get this away before I head off on another adventure. Thank you to all who supported the event at The Monestary in Manchester this weekend. It was a fantastic setting, bringing together the understanding of ancient teachings and the beauty of this monastic building , which really added to the feeling that in all beliefs a central truth and wisdom can be found… The weather was so terrific we took the musical festivities outside in the stunning courted gardens. And the drums were set free… I hope all those who atteneded this event enjoyed it as much as I did, judging by the fact we sold out of our drums, I guess some did! This inate desire in us to beat out our heart’s voice really does reconfirm how important it is for us to keep in touch with the rhythm of life and our own way of living. Let the beat go on!
Lots of love

Life Changing Cheltenham…
Hello Everyone!
Hope the sun is still shining wherever you are. I have just returned from a most wonderful weekend. Saturday was spent at the Isbourne Centre, which was just brilliant. But rather than me ’banging’ on at you, I hand this entry over to a wonderful soul who attended the day…
“I would just like to say ‘thank you’ for the experience on Saturday. I have always felt a connection with native american culture from very young, but thought I was just being romantic. I have touched on many different things and for the last 12 years been involved with yoga and meditation. But my experience on Saturday was extraordinary, the power of the drum even quietly in the corner when you first started talking was hard to resist I could feel it pulling me towards trance,on smelling the sage my whole being seemed to move into a different dimension and when my power animal came through the force and speed was unquestionable. I am a seeker but dont delude myself with fantasy I am very practical and grounded. These experiences were real and I am greatfull as I am looking for new direct and it has given me better understanding of where I am. Many thanks and blessings.”

We saw the Light!
Hello Everybody!
Well I have just come back from the show in Birmingham with White Light Events. It was fantastic to meet so many new people; that’s why I love being at the new shows. Myself and Simon Goodfellow did a ‘Mediumship’ demo both days and we had great fun. Standing room only, and the great news is that the organisers - Wendy and Sam - videod the demo so it will be on You Tube shortly.
I am now off to Dublin to do readings for the next week and to once again sample Irish hospitality. I am also preparing for the show in the ‘Monastery’ in a couple of weeks and cannot wait.
Hope you had a great weekend. I loved it. Plenty of my favourite food - chocolate Easter eggs!
See you all soon.
Lots of love

Blooming Brentwood!
Hello!
It was so fantastic to see so many of you at the Brentwood show last weekend. What an amazing weekend, I did not sit down for two days. My workshop on ‘Shamanic Healing’ was full up - standing room only. Great to see so many taking a vested interest in shamanism. The ‘Sage Workshop and Mediation’ held on the main stage (both days) was amazing. Lynn and Lee from ‘Touch The Earth’ came together with their flutes to create an amazing ‘journey of the sage’. Thank you for all your numerous requests for me to do a sage meditation. I will be putting together the cd at the end of April .
Love and Blessings always
